Summer of Love
History - 1x57

SUMMER OF LOVE looks at the event that many consider the peak of the 1960's counter-culture movement, when thousands flocked to San Francisco, California only to discover that what they had come for was already disappearing. By 1968 their celebration of free love, music, hippie culture, and the search for an alternative way to live had descended into a maelstrom of drug abuse, broken dreams and occasional violence. SUMMER OF LOVE will explore the tensions inherent within the quest for a new vision of political and cultural life, and the destructive elements that made that experiment ultimately fail.
